Nicholas Finderne, by indenture dated 1465, covenanted to fell this manor to Walter lord Mountjoy

The manor belonged to Ferrars, Earl of Derby, under whom it was held by a family, who took their name from the place of their abode, during the greater part of the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth centuries. In 1465, Nicholas Finderne, who married one of the coheiresses of Stretton, was in possession of it, in consequence of an arbitration, after a long law-suit, in which one of the heirs male of the Stretton family was a party. It was sold by him to Walter Blount, Lord Mountjoy, who died seised of it in 1474.
